flydubai is looking to hire a mid-level common law qualified commercial lawyer.

Working alongside the Senior Manager Legal Affairs, the Senior Vice President Legal Affairs and other lawyers in flydubai’s Legal Department, the successful candidate will support the business by assisting with various legal matters across flydubai’s operations with a particular focus on the commercial legal portfolio and technology contracts.

The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager Legal Affairs and their day to day role will encompass commercial law, contract interpretation, drafting, negotiation and providing advice to the business on risk management.


Key Activities & Attributes

1. Draft, review, amend, negotiate and advise the business on a broad range of commercial agreements including standard form IT and supply agreements with only supervisory support from senior legal team members.
2. Responsible for documentation management and ensuring commercial directives are incorporated on mid-large transactions with little oversight from senior legal team members.
3. Supervise the review, drafting and negotiation of various agreements, documents, and transactions undertaken by junior team members.
4. To work quickly and accurately and be able to prioritize urgent matters appropriately.
5. Willing to problem-solve, work outside their previous areas of expertise and go the extra mile when confronted with challenging situations.
6. Building a strong relationship with internal clients of various nationalities, undertaking their needs and business operations.
7. Ensure all correspondence and documentation accurately complies with company policy and reflect the company’s view.
8. Familiarity and ability to identify regulations, legislation and industry standard practices.
9. Organizational Responsibility: identify organizational needs.
10. Detail orientated with strong drafting and negotiating skills.
11. Commercial understanding and approach to the implementation of legal principles.
12. Assess and advise on liabilities, legal restrictions and risks of proposed transactions and devise practical legal solutions to meet the commercial needs under the direction of senior team members.
13. Supporting with the development and implementation of existing and new commercial template agreements.
14. Researching and providing advise on points of English contract law.
15. Team player with high level of drive and enthusiasm.
16. Provide training and guidance to others on the team.
17. Any other work assigned by senior team members.



Minimum Qualification

• University Degree in Law or equivalent or a Professional Diploma
• Common OR civil law trained (as may be required) and admitted to practice


• 4+ years post-graduation experience from a recognizable university with excellent academic results.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years of private practice experience (with a reputable law firm) with specialized experience in the relevant practice area post-qualification (IT, IP and commercial contracts).
• Prior experience in international contracts is preferred.
• Previous in-house legal experience beneficial but not essential.
• Experience in the GCC beneficial but not essential.

Knowledge / Skills

• Excellent PC skills and proficient in use of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent English language contract drafting skills.
• Excellent English fluency, excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Arabic knowledge an advantage, but not essential.

Certificate / License required

• Law degree and Qualification certificate.
• Practising certificate or equivalent (non-practising solicitors may also apply).
