History

The city can trace its history back to 1833 where pearl trade was Dubai’s major source of wealth. In 1966 oil was discovered in Dubai which changed the course of its history. It lead to attracting foreign trade and stimulating the economy which over the decades was diversified into shipping, finance and tourism.  

Dubai has emerged as a global city and business hub of the Middle East. It is also a major transport hub for passengers and cargo. It has gone from an important trading port to the home of investment, real estate, sports events, architecture, innovative construction projects and the tallest man-made structure on earth i.e. the Burj Khalifa.

The UAE has a rich culture and heritage that reflects traditional Arab and Islamic values. Courtesy and hospitality are among the most highly prized of virtues in the Arab world, and visitors will be charmed by the warmth and friendliness of the people
